The phase classes will introduce students to the arts in which students must learn material in order to test for rank under Guro Bryan. The remaining classes each night are devoted to going into more detail in the particular arts.

Dr. Bryan Stoops currently divides his curriculum into two main areas of testing and instructor certification: the empty-handed martial arts (Jeet Kune Do, Grappling, Thai Boxing, Savate, Silat, and Wing Chun), which are tested on a Phase/sash program, and the weapons-based arts (Inosanto/LaCoste and Dog Brothers), which are tested on a Phase/belt program. Some of the students at the Stoops Martial Arts Academy study both systems, while other specialize in one area.

Dr. Bryan Stoops also will test students for their Level I and Level II certification in Thai Boxing, according to the standards established by the Thai Boxing Association of America (T.B.A.). However, students working towards Muay Thai certification may only test after joining the T.B.A.
